Rocky Mount Church is thrilled to share SOAR, our Special Needs Ministry—created to welcome, support, and celebrate individuals and families of all abilities. This ministry is a blessing to families who experience different challenges when participating in church life.

Our vision is to transform religion into a relationship with Jesus Christ, one person at a time, by providing Sunday School classes, one-on-one buddies, and seasonal activities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through SOAR, individuals and their families build relationships with Jesus and within the church community. Let’s SOAR!

How to Get Started

We know attending church can present many challenges for families with special needs. That's why SOAR was created. We offer an 11:00 A.M. class on Sunday mornings for our friends with special needs so their families can enjoy our 11:00 A.M. Modern Worship Service. We would love to have you join us! We've built a team of buddies who are waiting to match up with their new friend.

Serve with SOAR

Serve with SOAR

We can’t offer this ministry to families without the support of caring volunteers who are willing to serve alongside us. SOAR Buddies play a vital role in creating a welcoming, supportive environment for individuals with special needs and their families.

To serve as a SOAR Buddy, you must be 18 years or older and be available to attend training as needed. We ask individuals applying to be a Buddy to commit to serving once a month, helping provide consistency, routine, and meaningful relationships for the individuals and families we serve.
