Council Membership
How We Form Our Church Council
At Rocky Mount Church, in alignment with the Global Methodist Church’s practices, our Church Council is composed of dedicated clergy and laity who help guide and support our mission and ministries. Members of the Church Council are elected by the local church’s Charge Conference, ensuring representation from both clergy and laypersons. The Charge Conference, made up of key church leaders and members, serves as the primary decision-making body and oversees these elections.
Church Council members are chosen not only for their commitment to Christ and our church, but also for their spiritual maturity, leadership gifts, and willingness to serve. This structure is designed to ensure accountability, shared ministry, and effective oversight at the local level, reflecting our church’s connectional and collaborative governance.
