Heather Painter

Director of Children's Ministry

Heather serves as the Director of Children’s Ministries at Rocky Mount Church. She lives in Mooresville with her husband, Jimmy, their three boys — James, Clayton, and Emmett — and their dog, Tucker. Their home is full of energy, laughter, and the joys that come with raising three active boys.

Heather grew up in Florida and graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She began her career teaching 4th grade before getting married and moving to Maryland, where she taught 3rd and 2nd grade and later earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Studies from Johns Hopkins University. After moving to North Carolina in 2014, she continued teaching 5th grade for two years before stepping into the season of being a stay-at-home mom.

Her journey into ministry at Rocky Mount Church began in 2017 when she started volunteering with preschool curriculum and Sunday morning preparation. Her passion for children and families quickly became evident, and in 2018 she joined the staff in a part-time assistant role. In August of 2022, Heather stepped into full-time ministry as the Director of Children’s Ministries — a role where her education, experience, and heart for kids come together beautifully.

What She Does at Rocky Mount Church

As the Director of Children’s Ministries, Heather oversees all programming and spiritual development for children from birth through 6th grade. She provides leadership, training, and support for volunteers and teachers, ensures safe and welcoming environments, and plans engaging events and programs that help children learn about Jesus in meaningful and memorable ways.

Heather oversees nursery and childcare programming, recruits and equips volunteers, and leads major annual events such as VBS and CentriKid summer camp. She regularly meets with ministry leaders to plan, dream, and create engaging opportunities for children and families, and she plays an active role on Sunday mornings greeting families, supporting classrooms, and ensuring every child feels loved and safe.

Through her dedication and creativity, Heather helps shape a ministry where kids can grow, explore faith, and experience the love of Jesus — one child at a time.
